This spring I was a recipient of three Scholarships: The Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA) scholarship competition, American String Teachers Association (OR-ASTA) scholarship competition, Beaux Art Society Scholarship Awards, and I am waiting to hear the results of the Portland Youth Philharmonic (PYP) Scholarship Comptition. OMTA hosts several scholarship competitions each year for different age groups of students. This year I participated in the high-school division of the Orchestral Instrumental Competition. I didn’t have to perform a live audition for the ASTA Scholarship Competition, but I sent in a recorded audition. Beaux Arts was a very nice surprise, because I didn’t even apply for a scholarship, I was nominated by several people. I gave a recital for the society, and it was a delight to perform for them and meet them all. Just this last Thursday I participated in the PYP Scholarship Competition. In all cases, I got some great feedback from the adjudicators. Thank you very much to all these organizations that provide scholarships to promote young musicians!
